COVID-19 INFECTIONS ARE CREEPING UP AGAIN, WITH IMPORTED CASES LEADING THE STATS


 
COVID-19 cases are once again on the increase with eight new infections having been reported. Therefore, the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Antigua and Barbuda stands at 1,288. 

Earlier today, July 27, the Ministry of Health released a new dashboard showing that there are 16 active cases. These were recorded over a two-day period – July 23 to July 25.
 
According to the Ministry, seven of these cases were recorded last Friday, while there was one new infection recorded on Saturday. No results have been received for Sunday, July 25, to date.
 
Officials say that six of the new cases are imported and two are domestic.  Three people are hospitalized with what are being termed “mild symptoms.”
 
A total of 219 samples were processed at the Mount St. John Medical Centre.
 
Meanwhile, first-dose vaccinations are nearing 38,000, with the actual figure being 37,841. Just over 30,000 have received their second doses.
