Where are the promised 700+ streetlights and when will highway repairs be completed, Pringle asks

MP Jamale Pringle, leader of the Opposition, is asking which
communities received the over 700 streetlights that the Cabinet
promised to have installed more than a year ago.

Following a tragic road accident on Friars Hill Road – which claimed
the life of one American University of Antigua student and left
another seriously injured – the Gaston Browne Executive said the
Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) would erect streetlights
along that busy thoroughfare and along other roadways.

This promise was made in 2022; but Pringle says he is still looking
for these additional lights.

He notes the danger of travelling on some of the highways at night,
since the roads are so dark that motorists are unable to see anything
ahead until they are in close proximity.

Meanwhile, Pringle is concerned about the manner in which the
government operates its roadworks programme.

He is asking when the Sir Sydney Walling Highway will be completed
and why, after the roads are repaired, they are dug up again mere
days or weeks after.

Pringle complains that this has been going on for years and the
practice needs to come to an end.

That was MP Jamale Pringle, leader of the Opposition.
