Burglar makes entry through bathroom window of Whenner Road home to rob elderly woman of cash and ID cards

An elderly woman was the victim of a burglar who entered her
house in the early hours of the morning and stole a quantity of
money.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is now investigating
the burglary, which occurred on January 9 at about 4 a.m.
It is alleged that a man entered the home of the, 77-year-old
Whenner Road resident and stole her handbag containing EC$600,
US$200, and several identification cards.

The senior citizen says she had gone to bed at about 10 p.m. the
night before (January 8), and had secured her house, ensuring that
all the doors and windows were locked.

However, in the early-morning hours of the following day, she was
awakened by a presence in her bedroom, and she reportedly opened
her eyes to see a male figure, dressed in dark clothing.

It is alleged that the intruder used a ladder to climb to the bathroom
window, from which he had to remove four panes of louvre glass to
gain entry into the home. Later, he reportedly made his escape
through the kitchen door.

A search was carried out in the surrounding area for the stolen
items and the thief, though without success.
