Dean Cassius denies accusation that the church is ‘quiet’ on important issues, saying Christians have always spoken out

The Reverend Dwayne Cassius, dean of the Cathedral of St. John the
Divine, does not agree with the notion, held by many, that the
church has been quiet on a number of important issues affecting
Antigua and Barbuda.

Dean Cassius says that Christians have, indeed, been speaking out
over the years, and so he does not understand where this idea is
coming. But what he believes is the issue, he says, is that the people
want to hear from, or to see, a particular man of God speak on the
issues affecting them.

And since this is not the case, then people tend to blame the entire
church – which is not a building, but the body of Christ – he says.
However, Dean Cassius warns, this pronouncement undervalues
every Christian.

He notes that some people are always focused on the negative; and
when Christians do well, their deeds are not given equal attention.

Having preached and ministered for almost 25 years, the clergyman
says some clarity needs to be brought to the accusation that “the
church is quiet” – a term employed by persons to cry down the
church.

That was the Reverend Dwayne Cassius, Dean of the Cathedral of
St. John the Divine.
