Prosecution asks court to adjourn Ray John-passport matter since his attorney was unavailable; new date is January 17

The trial of suspended police officer Ray John has been adjourned
again, this time to January 17, 2024, at the request of the
prosecution, represented by Acting Director of Public Prosecutions
(DPP) Shannon Jones-Gittens.

Sources report that John’s lawyer, Hugh Marshall, Jr., was not in
court today, December 12, and the DPP reportedly said she had been
advised that he would be unavailable. However, Michael Archibald,
who represents John’s co-accused, was present.

Those watching the matter say the adjournment appears to be
another step in the authorities’ attempts to discontinue John’s
prosecution – for alleged fraud involving the creation of Antigua and
Barbuda passports in St. Vincent.
