Police investigate the sudden death of a Villa resident and the demise of a Point man fished from the waters off the wharf

The Police are probing what are considered to be a suspected
drowning and a sudden death, with both incidents being discovered
on Monday, November 13.

While the Police have said they do not suspect foul play at this time,
post mortem examinations will have to be conducted to determine
how they died.

According to reports, the lifeless body of a man – identified only as
“Dale” by our newsroom (up to the time of this report) – was fished
from the water at Point Wharf by members of the Defence Force
Coast Guard. The sighting of the body was reported to the Police
sometime after 9 a.m.

The man, a resident of The Point, is alleged to be 35 years old, and it
is believed that he had lived in the abandoned Ebenezer Primary
School – known as the old Point School – which was destroyed
by fire last Wednesday morning, November 8.

The body reportedly was pronounced dead by the district doctor at
about 10:20 a.m.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident not far from The Point, the
remains of a Villa man were discovered inside his home. It is alleged
that the 54-year-old was found, unresponsive, in a Bay Street, Villa,
house.

Officers visited the scene at about 9:30 a.m. and found the deceased
lying on his bed. He was officially pronounced dead at about 10:28
a.m.
