Teens accused of breaking into OCS and stealing items to appear before Child Justice Board today

Two juveniles are expected to appear before the Child Justice Board
today, November 6, on charges of building break-in, larceny, and
malicious damage.

The Police arrested and jointly charged the pair – a 16-year-old
Tindale Road resident and a 17-year-old from Hatton – on the
weekend.

It is alleged that the teenagers broke into the Ottos Comprehensive
School and stole a quantity of items, including a Nautica Bluetooth
speaker, 10 peaked caps, one HP laptop charger, a Lenovo laptop
charger, and $35 in cash.

This offence reportedly occurred on October 21 at Mary E. Piggott
Road.

Additionally, both teens are jointly charged for unlawfully and
maliciously committing damage to certain personal property – one
wooden door valued $365.

This happened during the process of breaking into the school to
commit an offence.

They allegedly also damaged the door frame, a combination lock, a
pair of door hinges, and an awning window – all valued at $971.66,
the property of the school.

Both juveniles, on the instructions of Inspector Dane Bontiff, were
released into the custody of their parents and instructed to appear
before the Child Justice Board on Monday.

School break-ins have been occurring quite frequently since last
year, costing thousands of dollars in losses for the educational
institutions.

Meanwhile, a wounding incident involving two co-workers is being
investigated by the Police.

A Villa man reported to the Criminal Investigations Department that
he had been wounded by a fellow worker, whom he identified.
This incident reportedly occurred at about 4:25 p.m. on Friday,
October 3.

Reports say that officers went to the scene in Villa, where they met
the 26-year-old victim being attended to by Emergency Medical
Technicians.

His left hand, which had a bleeding wound, had already been
bandaged.

Allegedly, the victim and his co-worker had gotten into an argument,
during which the reported attacker used a black-handled knife to
wound him on his hand.

He was later transported to the hospital via ambulance.

Doctors attending him could not, at that time, state the exact nature
of the young man’s injury, and he was referred to the X-ray
Department.

Officers attached to the Special Services Unit carried out a search of
the surrounding area for the alleged offender, but without success.
