Sir Molwyn Joseph branded the ‘absolute worst’ minister of health for traveling while his portfolios fall into shambles

A medical practitioner is highlighting what he sees as the
incompetence of Sir Molwyn Joseph, the minister of health, wellness,
social transformation and the environment, and branding him the
“absolute worst” to have held the post.

Sir Molwyn recently travelled to Abu Dhabi, along with Ambassador
Diann Black-Layne, the director of the Department of Environment,
to attend the Pre-COP 28 meeting held at Emirate Palace.

The event, which ran from October 30 to 31, was held in preparation
for the 28th Annual Conference of the People (COP 28), which will
be held in Dubai later this year.

Seventy ministers reportedly attended the event and over 100
nations were represented.

However, the medical practitioner charges that, while Joseph was in
Abu Dhabi for Independence, his ministry is falling apart.

He notes that garbage has remained uncollected for weeks in many
communities, thereby creating a public health issue, while dengue
cases continue to rise and several community clinics remain closed.
Further, the medical professional says, a board of directors still has
not been appointed for the Medical Benefits Scheme Board and the
MBS clinics are running out of several life-saving medications.

Another disturbing situation highlighted by the medical practitioner
is that mold continues to infest several of the operating theatres at
the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, and, apparently, nothing is being
done to address this other health issue.

These shortcomings are the basis on which Sir Molwyn is being
dubbed the “absolute worst” minister of health in the history of
Antigua and Barbuda.

And while the healthcare infrastructure continues to crumble, Sir
Molwyn, along with Prime Minister Gaston Browne, is expected to
lead a local delegation to COP 28 for high-level discussions.

That meeting will be held from November 30 to December 12 this
year.
