Teachers protest lack of school security forcing classes at several public schools to end early

Classes at four public secondary schools were brought to an abrupt end today (Friday, March 10), after teachers stage a sit-in  at their respective schools protesting the continued lack of security on the school plants.

Teachers at All Saints Secondary, Jennings Secondary, Ottos Comprehensive, and Sir Novelle Richards Academy are making their demands known for increased security personnel on their respective compounds.

Earlier this week, the principal at the Mary E Pigott Primary School had to be taken to the hospital for treatment Wednesday morning, (March 8) after he was allegedly knocked to the ground by an angry parent.  He has since been placed on Medical Leave.

The need for the physical presence of security officers on the school compound, especially during school hours, has been a constant concern for both teachers and parents.    A similar protest action was taken at the Clare Hall Secondary School recently.
