Marshall: Businesses Need A Stimulus – Not A Willy-Nilly Giveaway Of Money

Economist Corthwright Marshall says that businesses will need some type of stimulus package if the economic fortunes of this country are to be revived.

Marshall, the United Progressive Party’s spokesperson on Economic Development, says the Party had hoped the Government would craft a package to assist small and medium-sized enterprises, especially.

However, he says the Gaston Browne Administration’s lack of interest in taking this route is regrettable.

Marshall says the Government needs to understand that a stimulus package does not mean “giving away money willy-nilly”.

He explains that a stimulus is created to assist – in particular – those who have lost their jobs during the pandemic, and to facilitate the continued development and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.

In this way, Marshall says, jobs and livelihoods would be protected.
