Bird warns Browne that if character assassination continues, he will release ‘information’ and let chips fall where they may

Sean Bird, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Candidate for St. John’s Rural East, is firing back with a verbal warning to his political opponents after being the object of slanderous comments and attacks against his character.

Bird, who publicly professes to be a man of faith, says he has been hearing rumours that he has impregnated a young woman in the constituency.  It is alleged that this claim is being spread by Gaston Browne, the political leader of the Antigua Labour Party (ALP).

Bird says this type of character assassination, at this time, goes to show the desperation of Browne and his Labour Party team, who are clutching at straws to remain in office.

However, he says, such slander should not be allowed to continue under the pretext of politics.

Bird says he has information on Browne that he has never made public.  But if this character assassination continues, he adds, he will speak and let the chips fall where they may.

Meanwhile, Bird says that Labour Party operatives have been stopping people in the Clare Hall area and making offers of $400 to $500 for their support.  He says that one young man has confirmed receiving such an offer.
