Nearly half-million dollars’ worth of marijuana seized at the LIAT Cargo unit in joint drug-interdiction exercise

At least four successful drug-interdiction exercises were conducted last week, and this week another shipment has been intercepted, netting close to a half-million dollars’ worth of marijuana.

This time, the Police say that 43 vacuum-sealed packages of the controlled drug were seized at the V.C. Bird International Airport on Wednesday, December 14.

The seizure netted 78 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of EC$468,000.

According to the lawmen, the illegal substance was discovered at the LIAT Cargo storage unit during a joint narcotics operation between the Police and the Customs Department.

The Police say they are continuing investigations into the matter.
