Uncertainty surrounds provision of textbooks and laptops in time to meet September reopening of schools
Allegations are being made that the Board of Education (BoE) might not have the requisite funds – or time – to import physical text books and electronic devices – particularly laptops – to meet the new school year.
REAL News correspondent George Wehner raised the issues on The Morning Bush Tea Show on Tuesday, August 16.
A passionate Wehner says the uncertainty is a disgrace, given that the commencement of the new school year is a little more than two weeks away.
According to Wehner, things are crumbling under the inept Gaston Browne Administration and pushing parents into further hardship.
Already, he notes, many parents are having to dig into their pockets to purchase school uniforms, in spite of having received vouchers. This is because several authorized vendors reportedly are refusing to accept them, because they are still owed by the Government.
Now, Wehner is hoping that parents do not also have to purchase text books, since they are already paying the Education Levy from their wages and salaries.
Wehner says that electors should stand up against the constant injustices meted out by this Administration, and he expresses the hope that BoE scholarships for youth studying abroad will not be impacted by the Government’s poor planning.
