Lovell says ‘political’ distribution of water tanks is disgraceful and Government Ministers should not be involved in allotment

Harold Lovell is accusing the Browne Administration of using taxpayers’ money to make the water-tank distribution political, and the Political Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP) says this action is “disgraceful.”

According to reports from the public, Ministers of Government have been distributing these tanks, but only to supporters of the Antigua Labour Party (ALP).

Lovell says he is happy that persons are benefitting from the distribution of water tanks at this drought-stricken time. However, his problem lies with the method of distribution – since Ministers are engaged in their allotment.

The Political Leader says the idea was conceptualized and presented to the public by the UPP.  He believes that an independent body should be overseeing the distribution to ensure that everyone benefits, no matter their political persuasion.

Lovell says this is one of the Labour Party’s tactics to hold onto power at any cost.
