Cabinet investigates lease of former medical school with a view to returning property to the Crown

The Administration is making moves to acquire the Dow Hill, Piccadilly, property that was leased, several decades ago, by a now-defunct medical school.

The institution – the University of Health Sciences Antigua (UHSA) – reportedly has ceased operations, and, thus, the Cabinet plans to have the property returned to the Crown.

According to reports, the Executive held discussions with an attorney from the Solicitor General’s Office to address the issue.

Additionally, the Crown Counsel is said to have reviewed the lease of a property in Barbuda that was destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017.

The operator of that hotel is reportedly seeking to rebuild and wants to move forward with the plans.
