Death of Golden Grove resident might be third homicide of 2024 and third murder in that neighbourhood

What is believed to be the country’s third homicide for 2024 is being
investigated by the Police, following the discovery of a man’s body
inside his Golden Grove home, late Monday afternoon, March 18.

Initially, the discovery was being treated as a sudden death;
however, after closer examination of the body, several bruises were
found.

The Police, allegedly, are working on the theory that the man, said to
be in his late 60s, was beaten, and this might have resulted in his
death.

But, of course, a post mortem examination will have to be conducted
to determine the exact cause of his death.

As investigations continue into this suspected murder, persons are
wondering whether the death occurred while another related
offence, such as robbery or larceny, was being committed.

But it is unclear whether anything is missing from the house of the
deceased, who reportedly had lived there alone for about 10 years.
A neighbour says he might have been a technician who repaired slot
machines.

And he tells REAL News this possible killing took place in the
vicinity of the double murder of a husband and wife: Pietja (Pia)
Visser-Baptiste, 61, and Tyrone Baptiste, 64, who were found shot to
death in their Golden Grove home on July 20, 2022.

To date, no one has been identified or charged for those killings.
Residents responding to this latest death are hoping the Police will
be able to catch the perpetrator(s) and bring them to justice.
