Charged with murder for Smithers’ stabbing, Berle Wallace to appear in St. John’s Magistrates Court on Friday

The Villa man accused of fatally stabbing Christopher Smithers of Friars Hill Development has been charged for his killing.

Berle Adolphus Nathaniel Wallace, Jr., aged 38, now faces the capital offence of murder, which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Wallace was charged by the Police early today, March 3, and is expected to appear in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 4.

The Police report that both men were involved in an altercation on St. John’s Street, in the vicinity of Pita Pocket, at around 6:23 pm on Tuesday, March 1.

It is alleged that Wallace armed himself with a sharp implement, which he used to stab Smithers, a personal trainer at the Xtreme Fitness Gym.

Smithers was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 6:45 p.m. by a medical doctor.

Wallace was immediately taken into custody.
