Continued poor Internet capability is the fault of the Browne Administration, a frustrated Lovell says, and residents agree

The country’s poor Internet capabilities are the fault of the Gaston Browne Administration, says Harold Lovell, Political Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP).

Too often, Internet services fail for one reason or another, residents complain; but the Government seems incapable of – or unwilling to – put the proper legislative measures in place to address and correct the problem, Lovell says.

His criticism was precipitated by the audience’s frustration last Thursday night, June 23, when The Captain’s Corner, Lovell’s Internet and radio programme, was delayed long past its 8 p.m. start time.

Residents scoffed last year, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when international business persons were invited to come to Antigua and Barbuda and work under the NOMADS programme.

If local professionals and students were having such Internet challenges working from home, they asked, how would a visitor, accustomed to high-speed service, be able to perform here.

Many residents believe the poor Internet delivery is Government’s way of forcing them to apply for broadband services from APUA Inet, which is owned by the State.
