Three people arrested after police discover illegal firearm and ammunition in two of their vehicles

Three people are now in custody assisting the Police with
investigations into an illegal firearm and ammunition found in the
car in which they were traveling.

According to a January 17 press release from Stratcom, the police
communications arm, the discovery took place on Tuesday, January
16, when officers intercepted the vehicle during a stop-and-search
exercise on Friars Hill Road.

Further investigations led the Police to search another vehicle
belonging to one of the suspects – in which several rounds of
ammunition were found.

As a result, all three suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
In the meantime, cops are probing an alleged shooting that occurred
in the Nut Grove area earlier this week.

Reports say that an anonymous caller telephoned the Grays Farm
Police Station at about 3 p.m. on January 5 and reported that several
shots had been fired in the area.

As a result, officers visited the location to conduct investigations and
reportedly found what appeared to be five 9mm spent shells on the
road, in the vicinity of a woman’s house.

A search was carried out in the neighbourhood for any suspicious
persons, but without success.
Meanwhile, on Monday, January 15, the Police and Customs seized
one 9mm pistol and 18 matching rounds of ammunition during an
interdiction exercise at the Deep Water Harbour.

The illegal gun and ammunition were discovered inside a package
labeled The Holy Bible.

Investigations are still ongoing into that matter.
