Isaac says history must record that UPP made attempt to halt mismanagement by way of no-confidence motion against PM

Although its prospects of success are not sure, the chairman of the
United Progressive Party (UPP), D.Gisele Isaac, says a motion of no-
confidence in Prime Minister Gaston Browne will be undertaken to
register the Party’s dissatisfaction with his leadership.

Members of the Opposition Bench have shared that the motion will
likely be moved during an upcoming sitting of Parliament, after
Kelvin “Shugy” Simon is returned to the Lower House.

Whether the motion is successful or not, Isaac says it is critical that
the Party record its feelings in the Legislature. Accordingly, history
will show that the UPP made the effort to halt the mismanagement
of the country.

She says that no one in Antigua and Barbuda can “honestly” admit
that things are running well at this time, especially with the
economy in shambles.

There are ongoing rumours of discontent in the ruling Antigua
Labour Party, and it is said that a senior minister has threatened to
stand up to Browne and up-end the Administration.

Accordingly, Isaac says the Opposition MPs are hoping there is at
least one person on the Government Bench who is unhappy enough
with Browne’s leadership to support the motion.
