Rotary Club Sundown reports that its Pediatric Village was so successful that next year’s event will be expanded

Over 100 children recently received full physical health checks,
including eye and dental examinations, through the Rotary Club of
Antigua Sundown’s Pediatric Village.

During the much-anticipated annual event – the brainchild of Dr.
Jenelle Allen, the Club’s director of service projects – nutritional
advice was also provided for the children and their parents or
guardians.

The event was held at the Metropolitan University College of
Medicine premises in St. John’s, where the classrooms were turned
into examination rooms, providing comfort and easy access for all
involved.
Doctors, dentists, optometrists, nutritionists and nurses volunteered
their time to attend to the children, aged five to 12 years old.
Dr. Allen reports that the turnout was great, and the Club will ride
the momentum and successes achieved this year to expand next
year’s event.

The Club intends on inviting more partners to join in the initiative,
as, he says, “it is time for us to actively invest in the care of our youth
and work together as a community to ensure they are in good
health.”

Dr. Allen says the Club also plans to introduce an additional annual
Pediatric Village in March 2024 for older youth, ranging between 13
and 17 years old.
