‘Brother B’ Baptiste in good spirits as UPP and BPM Cabinet colleagues celebrate his discharge from the ICU

Former Prime Minister Dr. Baldwin Spencer and Cabinet Ministers
Willmoth Daniel, Harold Lovell, Dr. Jacqui Quinn, and Trevor Walker
visited their colleague, Hilson “Brother B” Baptiste, today, Thursday,
August 24, and are reporting that he was in very good spirits.

Baptiste, who was admitted to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre
after he suffered a stroke on August 21, has been transferred from
the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a ward, where he is convalescing
slowly.

While his speech remains impaired, reports say that Baptiste was in
a jovial mood and able to interact with his United Progressive Party
(UPP) family and colleagues. With a “thumbs up,” he assured them –
and his well-wishers and supporters – that he is on the road to
recovery.

Baptiste’s last political appearance was on the platform at a rally in
Bolans, when he endorsed the UPP’s St. Mary’s South candidate,
Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, as the right choice in the upcoming by-
election.

Interestingly, another rally, at the same venue, is scheduled to take
place tonight.

Brother B – as he is still affectionately called – represented that
constituency for more than two decades.

The Party and Progressive 107.3 FM continue to pray for his full
recovery.
