Briggins man called out of his apartment and shot multiple times; motive for attack is not yet known

And as the Police probe Monday night’s homicide, another shooting
– the second in one week – is being investigated.

Allegations are that a 33-year-old man was shot and seriously
injured, in the Briggins area, late Monday night, August 21. He is
now in critical condition at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, to
which he was rushed by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

It is alleged that, after hearing someone calling out to him, the man
went outside his apartment and was fired upon. Reports say he was
shot three times about the body and the head.

What prompted this most recent shooting, which happened shortly
after 11 p.m., is unclear. But, meanwhile, according to STRATCOM,
the victim is in stable condition at the hospital.

The Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact the
Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462-3913 or the
Crimestoppers Hotline at 800-8477.

Residents have reacted with horror to the two violent incidents that
occurred on Monday night, with one woman telling REAL News that
a march against the violence – with a prayer vigil – is desperately
needed to “save this country.”
