No improvement in critical condition of man injured in accident at the Port; medical team, family and friends are concerned

The shipping agent employee who was severely injured at the
Antigua Port Authority more than a week ago is still critically listed
at the hospital, as his condition has not yet improved.

As a result, doctors at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre are closely
monitoring the condition of Denroy Harrigan, 58, who was injured
in a freak accident at the Deep Water Harbour.

Harrigan was crushed between a truck and a metal container when
the vehicle reversed into him, severely injuring the lower portion of
his body.  Apparently, the truck driver claimed not to have seen him
at the time.

Harrigan has already undergone orthopaedic surgery for injuries to
his pelvic area and also required blood tranfusions. He remains on a
ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit to help with his breathing.

His family and friends are desperately hoping for signs of
improvement, since the injuries he sustained continue to be of great
concern for his medical team.

An investigation into the incident was expected to take place, but no
report has been published, to date.
