Audience agrees that Queen of Carnival returned with a bang, as Corbin copped the crown and topped most show segments

Antigua and Barbuda has crowned its first Queen of Carnival –
Ischikelle Corbin – following a three-year hiatus of the competition
due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

From a field of seven delegates, Corbin, Miss Cedar Valley Golf Club,
emerged the winner on Sunday night, July 23, following what many
say was a close competition between her and the first runner-up,
Jahkaydah Isaac, Miss Cool & Smooth.
Copping the second runner-up spot was J’Dinique Prince, Miss
Neverland.

Reports say that Corbin impressed the audience and the judges from
the moment she hit the stage at Carnival City, winning almost all of
the segments judged on the night of the show.

She walked away with Interview, Talent, Costume and Evening Wear
segments, while Prince, was adjudged best in Swimwear.
In the pre-judged segments, Prince was also voted Most Congenial
while Kessi-Ann Samuel, Miss Arton Capital, captured the Most
Photogenic. The leadership award went to Soeisha Baptiste, Miss
Antigua Port Authority.

Following her win, Corbin is now preparing to represent Antigua
and Barbuda in the upcoming Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show.
Meanwhile, the technical issues that plagued the Teenage Pageant on
Saturday night, July 22, did not mar the Queen of Carnival 2023
show.

With the parade of vibrant colours and culture, as well as the
magnificent costumes displayed by the seven delegates representing
their cultural focus, many people agreed that the competition had
returned with a bang.

It was a kaleidoscope of festive hues, with shades of blue dominating
the swimwear segment, reportedly to celebrate the island’s 365
white-sand beaches.

Even persons watching via social media remarked that the show had
brought back the feel of Carnival.
