Simon tells PM to stop playing games with the people, as Browne announces that ALP is preparing for by-election

Former MP Kelvin “Shugy” Simon says Prime Minister Gaston
Browne should stop trying to deceive the people of Antigua and
Barbuda.

Simon’s comment follows a declaration by Browne, last weekend,
that the Antigua Labour Party is readying itself for a by-election in
the St. Mary’s South constituency.

He said this after earlier pronouncements that the election-petition
case is still active, and so there will be no rush for any
announcement of an election date.

According to Simon, the United Progressive Party’s candidate, the
prime minister continues to play games, knowing full well that a by-
election must follow his resignation from the Lower House.

Meanwhile, Simon says he has several plans in the pipeline for the
constituency, and these are being held up because of the pending
litigation.

He says the people of St. Mary’s South duly elected him during the
January 18 General Election, and the case is hampering his ability to
give them his all – although, fortunately, he already has done a
number of things in the constituency.

In the meantime, he has nothing but the best intentions for the
constituents and the community of St. Mary’s South, where he has
resided for decades, Simon says.
