Concerned citizen asks why the ‘evil’ of a sex ring involving minors is allowed, again and again, in 108-square-mile Antigua

Since another teenager has gone missing from home, a concerned
citizen is asking questions amidst rumors that a local sex ring is in
operation.

Allegedly, the ring is being facilitated through a WhatsApp group
titled “Friends Only,” which is said to attract young people between
the ages of 13 and 17.

Apparently, these boys and girls are required to send pictures of
themselves, naked and in various poses, as well as videos, and these
are shown to potential clients.

Reportedly, the teenagers are then drawn from their homes and
taken to a certain location where the clients will pick up their
“victims.”

These young people apparently spend days with the sexual
predators, are sworn to secrecy, and are then returned home.
This information has been shared publicly, with one activist pushing
for action. However, as far as many residents can see, nothing is
being done by the authorities – causing some to ask whether the
sex-ring operators are being protected.

In an open letter, a concerned citizen registers her displeasure over
the ongoing disappearance and reappearance of teenage girls,
especially since it has been suggested that they are being sexually
exploited.

The woman says that no parents in their right mind would
appreciate their little girls being defiled; and if it happens, they
would want action to be taken against the guilty party.

Accordingly, she is asking why “this evil [is] allowed again and again
in 108-square miles Antigua.” Going further, she adds: “Why have
the political leaders not sprung into action [and] why are church
leaders deafeningly silent on the matter?”

The letter-writer refers to a local activist, who, she says, appears to
be the only voice condemning the situation and trying to seek
answers to save our young girls.

If the Police fail to act on these allegations, the citizen says, then they
should never haul another young man before the court for having
carnal knowledge of his underaged girlfriend.

About two decades ago, a prostitution ring that involved teenage
girls was uncovered by the Police. Several of the clients were
identified as prominent businessmen and the operators – alleged to
be a well-known contractor and his now-deceased girlfriend – were
arrested and charged.

A female resident tells REAL News she remembers the incident very
well and had the sad experience of meeting with one of the young
victim’s devastated family members.

After the scandal broke, she recalls, several of the girls were sent
abroad “to get away from the shame.” However, as far as she can
remember, the matter languished and died and there was never any
prosecution.

She says the matter was discussed again, within her organization, a
few years ago, when one of the accused businessmen died,
reportedly in a foreign jail.

Based on the fact that that matter never made it to court – and the
known abusers simply went about their business in the society – the
woman says she has absolutely no faith that the current sex ring will
be investigated or prosecuted.
