Sentencing of ‘Alex’ to take place on Friday after social-inquiry report on Chinese arsonist is presented to court

The sentencing hearing for Chinese national Tianzhao “Alex” Feng was adjourned on Tuesday, March 21, in the High Court.

Feng was expected to be sentenced after pleading guilty to a charge of arson on February 17.  However, when the matter was called up, the court was notified that the social inquiry report had not been completed.

Therefore, sentencing was adjourned until this Friday, March 24, at which time the report should have been completed and presented to the court and to Feng’s lawyer, Wendel Robinson.

Feng admitted to having burnt down the popular supermarket XPZ, located on Factory Road, on June 1, 2021, leaving dozens of workers unemployed.
