Active COVID-19 cases pass the 50-mark for the first time in months, following conclusion of party season

It appears that the COVID-19 numbers from the just-concluded partying season are showing, with 53 active cases.

This is the first time in months that active infections have crossed the 50 count.

The most recent report received by the Ministry reveals 31 new coronavirus cases on island, as of Wednesday, August 10.

Twenty of these cases were recorded on August 8; eight on August 9; and three on August 10, and were the result of 600 samples tested at the hospital.

There remain three hospitalized cases – all of whom are said to be exhibiting mild symptoms – and Health officials report that 15 recoveries were recorded over this period.

Therefore, the total number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is now 8,851.
