Victims of double homicide in Golden Grove are identified as Tyrone and Pia Baptiste; police suspect motive was robbery

The Police continue to investigate what has been confirmed as the double-homicide of two Golden Grove residents: Tyrone and Pia Baptiste, who reportedly ran a tour company.

Reports say that Pia’s co-worker went to check on her when she did not show up for work, and at around 9:15 a.m. this morning, July 20, their bodies were discovered inside their home.

Sources say both were shot in the head – the man, 65 years old, on the couch and the 60-year-old European woman in the bedroom. Reportedly, Tyrone also sustained a knife wound.

The motive is suspected to be robbery; and, according to the latest reports, entry to the couple’s home appeared to have been gained through a kitchen window.

There are reports that neighbours head explosions – suspected to be gunshots – at around 4:30 a.m. that morning.

Persons who worked with or knew the couple tell REAL News they are still shocked at the news.

Other residents are upset and angry that, at this time of rising gun crime, a contingent of local police officers has been deployed to the Regional Security Services (RSS) to help curb crime in St. Lucia.

Meanwhile, lawmen are appealing to the public to report any suspicious movements to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462-3913 or call Crimestoppers at 800-Tips (8477).
