Police probe Monday-evening killing of Skerritts Pasture man, the fourth homicide of the year, and appeal for public’s help

The Police are investigating the fourth homicide of 2022, following the shooting death of a 34-year-old Skerritts Pasture man.

St. Claire David, according to reports, was shot during a drive-by incident on Monday evening, July 4, between 5:40 and 6 p.m.

A source claims he was standing in the yard of a known person, when a vehicle pulled up alongside on the main road in Skerritts Pasture.  It is alleged that two masked men dressed in hooded shirts exited the vehicle and opened fire on David.

Reportedly, the victim was struck in the upper left chest and wounded in the right hand.

David was transported to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Services, but was officially pronounced dead at 6:56 p.m.

As investigations continue, the Police have processed the scene and questioned several people.  They are appealing to the public for information on this incident and inviting persons to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913, or Crimestoppers at 800-Tips(8477).

Meanwhile, in another incident in the DeSouza Road area, another young man was shot at by two men, and the Police are currently probing that shooting, as well.

REAL News was informed that a 23-year-old man from the area reported that, while walking through an alley, he saw two young men dressed in dark clothing and with their faces covered, walking back and forth.

It is alleged that the young man confronted one of the masked men, who pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.

A scuffle ensued between the two, and both gunmen allegedly shot at him before fleeing the scene.

A source says it is believed that the gun- toting bandits were planning on robbing a nearby minimart on DeSouza Road.

This offence reportedly occurred at about 8 p.m. on June 30 and follows another one on Sunday, June 26, in which a Parham teenager was shot to the thigh.

The perpetrator in that incident was arrested and charged and is now on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison.
