Ministry of Education lauds Baptist Academy students who took Top 3 positions in this year’s CSEC exams

The Ministry of Education continues to heap praise on those students who wrote the 2021 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations – and particularly on the Baptist Academy, which took the Top 3 positions.

Pia Nichols, the first-placed scholar, swept 17 Grade Ones;  Avein Joseph, the second-placed student, earned 16  Grade Ones and a single Grade Two; and Kofi Brown, in third place, gained 15 Ones and a pair of Twos.

The Ministry says the three have demonstrated that hard work and consistent support lead to success, and they have done themselves, their families, and their school proud – especially considering the many challenges and hardship  created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Further, the Ministry says it is “extremely happy that both genders are represented in this roll of excellence.”

“In a context of ongoing concern about the academic performance of boys, we are particularly happy that Mr. Avein Joseph and Mr. Kofi Brown have excelled at the 2021 sitting of the CSEC examinations,” the Ministry says in a release.

Education officials also highlight the complement of subjects the students wrote and in which they excelled: the arts, the pure sciences and business.

The Ministry is encouraging the trio to continue to maintain their high standard of academic  excellence as they go on to tertiary-level pursuits.
