Donovans man fined $7,500 for possession, after early-morning police raid unearths marijuana and cannabis plants at his home
A Donovans man has been sentenced for marijuana possession in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court.
Jason Millette appeared before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh and pleaded guilty to possession of one pound of cannabis.
Millette, who is known to the Court, was therefore fined $7,500, which he has to pay by August 31 or be imprisoned for 18 months.
Reports say the Police executed a search warrant at the home of the 38-year-old man and his girlfriend and discovered both cannabis and cannabis plants.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of June 16, with assistance from the Criminal Investigations Department and the K-9 Unit.
At that time, the couple was taken into custody on suspicion of drug possession and transported to the St. John’s Police Station.
