Agriculture Committee Chairman says preparations to resume peanut production on Barbuda are progressing well

Fabian Jones, Chairman of the Agriculture, Fisheries, Lands and Marine Development Committee of the Barbuda Council, says that preparations for its once-lucrative peanut production are progressing well.

Several weeks ago, the British High Commission donated equipment that would assist the Council in re-starting the project.

Jones says that fence posts were sourced about a month ago and other materials to complete the work are now expected to arrive on Barbuda.

Jones says Barbuda residents have encouraged him to push and ensure that peanut production returns to the sister-island.

Once the material arrives on island and the equipment is in place, the replanting of posts will commence sometime this week, Jones assures.
