Police Commissioner Rodney attends Paris conference that looks at new challenges in security and defence

As the western world struggles with the security and economic implications of the war between Russia and The Ukraine, Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney is attending the 9th Latin America International Session now taking place in Paris, France.

Rodney is among at least 30 high-level participants from Latin America and regional organisations, who have gathered to analyze the new security and defence challenges from both a regional and a multilateral angle.

Their discussions will focus particularly on relations with the European Union and the United Nations.

The commissioner and his colleagues will hear from recognized experts and take part in discussions between speakers and committee workshops.

Also attending that meeting is the Executive Director of the Regional Security System, Commodore Errington Shurland, who also serves as the Chief of Defence Staff of the Barbados Defence Force.

The meeting is organized by the Institute for Higher National Defence Studies and runs from March 6 to 13.  Its theme is “France and Latin America United to Face New Security and Defence Challenges.”
