Nurse previously accused of fraud is remanded to prison after new charge breaches her bail conditions

Nurse Jahmesha Millwood, once again, has found herself in trouble with the law; and, this time, it has earned her a stay at His Majesty’s Prison.

On Thursday, May 4, Millwood, for at least a third time, found herself in St. John’s Magistrates Court before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh, facing the criminal charge of fraud.

Because she was on bail for similar offences, and this latest incident is in breach of previous bail conditions, the nurse was placed on remand at the prison.

However, her attorney, Michael Archibald, may seek bail for her before a High Court judge.

Reports say that, this time around, Millwood is alleged to have defrauded a patient of over $4,000.

The alleged victim is a Crosbies man with a leg injury that restricted him from moving around freely.

Reportedly, family members sought a private caregiver with medical training, and Millwood was recommended to the family.

Apparently, the person who made the recommendation told the family of Millwood’s pending legal issues; but they opted not to judge her and to give her the opportunity to work.

According to reports, while in the sick man’s employ, Millwood happened upon his cheque book; removed cheques from various parts of it; and wrote various sums in her own favour.

Reports say she cashed the cheques at a local service station; and after they were deposited to the business’ account, the forgery was uncovered.

A source has confirmed that Millwood also has matters before the Civil Court. It was only on Wednesday, May 3, that she appeared before Chief Magistrate Walsh for allegedly swindling money from a woman.

Reports say she had told the court  she could repay the sums by November this year; but the court requested that it be completed before that time.

Millwood is already facing 21 counts of falsifying COVID-19 vaccination cards, which she allegedly forged and issued for a hefty sum.

She was taken into custody in November 2021, and her nursing licence was reportedly revoked.

The 30-year-old Bolans woman was granted $5,000 bail for that offence.

In a previous report, Millwood was erroneously identified as a Jamaican. She is, in fact, a national of Antigua and Barbuda.
