Environment Division to host plant-distribution exercise on Thursday as part of Arbor Month observation

As Antigua and Barbuda celebrates Arbor Month, the Department of the Environment will be hosting its annual plant-distribution exercise on Thursday, November 25.

Daryl George, Senior Environment Officer, spoke on the Good Morning Sass Show about the plants that will be on offer.

As in previous years, persons will be required to bring along plastic bags  in order to obtain the plants they require, or they can purchase the bags on site.

In addition to the plant distribution, there will be a number of other activities throughout the day, including discussions on several  of the Department’s projects.

George  says that several vendors will also form part of the event by selling local agricultural products.  Other persons will be offering flowering plants, ornamentals, palms and coconut trees for sale.

This year, the distribution will take place at the Department of the Environment headquarters, just above the Botanical Gardens, and staff will be on hand to offer advice on how to care for the plants.

The Senior Environment Officer says all COVID-19 protocols will be in place.
