Construction on Valley Road North will reduce traffic to single-lane movement until next Thursday, Works Ministry advises
As work continues on Valley Road North, the contractor will be undertaking another phase of the road programme.
The Ministry of Works says a one-week exercise will see the contractor carrying out pipe crossings in order to facilitate work by the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA).
That work will be conducted between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily, from Thursday, October 21, to Thursday, October 28.
The installation of these crossings will result in single-lane traffic for light and emergency vehicles only.
Work on the road commenced yesterday, October 21, between the entrance to Sugar Ridge Resort and Valley Church Beach.
Today, October 22, work will be distributed through the main area of Jennings, while tomorrow, October 23, it will shift between Creekside and the entrance to Ebenezer Village.
There will be no work on Sunday, the contractor says, but activity will resume on Monday, October 25, between Creekside and the Big Creek Bridge.
The areas between the Antigua State College and Creekside; between the Golden Grove School and the entrance to the College; and in the vicinity of Golden Grove School, respectively, will also be addressed.
Given the scope of these activities, the Ministry of Works is admonishing “all road users … to comply with the traffic-management measures and proceed with extreme caution when traversing the construction site.”
