YOUTH MAY BE BAR-CODED TO PROVE VACCINATION STATUS FOR ENTRY TO SOCIAL FUNCTIONS

As the Government readies itself to fully reopen the economy, plans are in the pipeline to tag vaccinated young people through a bar code.

This barcode will be linked to their smartphones and will be used to monitor their entry into certain businesses that require evidence of vaccination.

Information Minister Melford Nicholas says the Cabinet is still mulling the idea and no concrete decision has been taken as yet. However, the Cabinet is looking at the framework of the idea, he says, since this will be the new normal going forward.

Meanwhile, the Government has already obtained information on those who have taken the jab.

Nicholas says the information collected will be placed on a document that is bar-coded, so it is not likely to be forged.

In the meantime, the Information Minister is encouraging young people to avail themselves of the vaccine if they wish to return to taking part in social functions.

A mother tells REAL News that this is simply another coercive measure the Administration is using on the population.

“The young people are tired of being cooped up,” she says. “It’s a whole year now that they have been shut up inside.  Of course they are going to get vaccinated if that is the only way they can go out.  It’s not science the Government is preaching. It’s just economic tactics,” she declares.
