STUDENT’S POSSIBLE COVID INFECTION FORCES TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF GOLDEN GROVE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Sanitization and deep cleaning of the Golden Grove Primary School were scheduled to begin today, April 30, after an apparent COVID-19 exposure at the institution, a source says.

The school was forced to close its doors just two weeks after it reopened, and a week after all students returned to face-to-face learning.

The entire school has now returned to the remote-learning platform after a student was placed in isolation. Apparently the child was suffering from a high temperature, believed to be from a COVID-19 infection.

After school officials discovered that the child was ill, the Health officials were immediately contacted.

REAL News has since been told that relatives of the affected student have tested positive for the virus.

A source tells our newsroom that once the all-clear is given by Health officials, students should return to in-person learning.

Golden Grove Primary has been the center of attention since schools reopened on April 12 and 19, with videos of student fights going into circulation and prompting interventions from the Ministry of Education.
