Fire razes house on North Street believed to have been burglarized days before

Fire officers and the police continue to investigate the cause of a fire which razed a two-bedroom house on Upper North Street on Thursday night (October 7).

Reports are that firemen responded to the call shortly after 8pm and battled for about 40 minutes to extinguish the inferno. At the end, only a portion of the right section and front entrance of the house were left standing.

Further reports are that the house was unoccupied at the time. However, it was noted that the owner had been in the area earlier that day to check on the property, which was allegedly broken into.

Officials say that neighbouring homes were not impacted by the fire.

A video is in circulation showing the intensity of the blaze as fire fighters fought to put it out.
