PHASE 2 OF PUBLIC – VACCINATION PROGRAM SEES LOWER TURNOUT

The number of people electing to be vaccinated has declined moderately, the authorities say, judging by thesecond phase of the public campaign, which got off the ground on Tuesday, April 13.

Accordingly, Information Minister Melford Nicholas says the Government’s education campaign will have to be intensified to ensure that persons go out to get the jab.

Meanwhile, efforts to ensure that there are sufficient vaccines to allow the country to reach herd immunity are continuing.

The Sputnik V vaccine from Russia arrived on island last weekend, although Nicholas says that approval for its use has not yet been granted.

He says, however, that approval is expected in a matter of days.
