FREAK ACCIDENT ON LOWER MARKET STREET SENDS AT LEAST NINE PERSONS TO THE HOSPITAL


Police continue to investigate the cause of a downtown accident that sent at least nine people to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, April 14.
 
REAL News understands that the driver of a Brownie’s Bakery vehicle might have suffered an epileptic seizure, which caused him to lose control of the van and run onto the busy sidewalk. The man is described as being of middle age.
 
According to reports, the injured included three school children, an elderly man, a vendor, and other bystanders. At least three stalls were mowed down, leaving fruits and vegetables strewn all over the roadway.
 
Reportedly, the van had just left the Fisheries Complex and was heading north on Market Street when the driver allegedly suffered the medical emergency . The white minivan ploughed into the stalls and into several people who were making purchases.
 
At least four ambulances had to be rushed to the scene to transport the injured to the hospital, some in worse condition than others.
 
Lawmen also converged on the scene to conduct investigations and take measurements of the area, in the vicinity of the V.C. Bird Bust.
 
In the aftermath of the accident, a video feed was streamed live via Facebook.
