Process of creating farmers’ identification cards begins this week, Extension Division reports, with data-collection according to district
The Extension Division in the Ministry of Agriculture has begun the process of
distributing farmers’ identification cards, with the first phase – the collection
of photographs and signatures only – from Monday, June 24, to Friday, June
28, between the hours of 9:30a.m. to 2:30p.m.
The schedule for the assigned districts is as follows.
Monday 24th – Northeast
Tuesday 25th – Southwest
Wednesday 26th – Southcentral
Thursday 27th – Northwest
The Southeast district is set for Friday.
Adrian Bowen will be the person facilitating the process and farmers’
cooperation on this matter would be appreciated, the Division says.
The Farmer’s Registration Programme is a significant step forward in the
Ministry of Agriculture’s efforts to provide accurate information and
knowledge on important details in the agriculture sector.
The data will include the total number of producers and cultivated areas,
among other information, and may help to quantify the exact contribution of
the sector to national food-security pursuits, as well as the sustainable
economic development of the country.
