Plenary at which PLH-hired scientist presented is dismissed by Mussington as ‘a special greenwashing’ and non-interactive event

Barbuda Councilman John Mussington, a marine biologist, is describing as “a
special greenwashing event” the plenary meeting in which he took part on
Wednesday, May 29.

Mussington reports that he got the opportunity to sit in on one plenary
meeting, in which one presenter is a scientist that conducted some research
on behalf of the Peace Love and Happiness (PLH) investors.

Now, Mussington is describing the “special greenwashing event” as one in
which a big corporation is guilty of taking negative actions against the
environment but calling them good. This is like an oil company saying it is
protecting the environment with its oil drilling, he explains.

In addition to the chief scientist hired by the PLH conglomerate, Dr. Deborah
Brosnan, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, and Tourism Minister Charles “Max”
Fernandez were also present. It was noted that a billionaire developer who
should have been a part of the discussions was unable to attend.

Mussington says the scientist was trying to convince the conference that
everything is being done to protect Barbuda’s natural ecosystem and to make
the island more resilient.

The Barbuda councilman says what he found curious about Wednesday’s
session was that it was not interactive as would have been the norm.

That was John Mussington, environmentalist and marine biologist.

According to Mussington, what is happening in Barbuda can only be described
as ecocide, with a harmful development being pushed by the PLH (a luxury
real-estate community with a golf course).

He further accuses the developers of targeting a RAMSAR site on the sister-
island.
