Police to investigate themselves after woman accuses officers of beating her during beach incident

Two incidents of wounding are being investigated by the Police, one
in which a woman is claiming to have been beaten by officers at
Ffryes Beach.

According to reports, a young woman unplugged the cord on a
sound system that was playing music at the popular beach and was
confronted by a man.

When the two began to fight, a
constable who was on the beach saw the commotion and tried to
intervene. He later telephoned the Bolans Police Station and
reported that a fight was in progress.

Apparently, as a result of the fight, the Liberta man who was
involved sustained a small laceration under his left eye. However,
he could not say who had inflicted it.

Meanwhile, the Hatton woman told the investigating officer that she
had been beaten about the body by police officers.

Both parties reportedly were issued with police medical forms to
consult a doctor.

Meanwhile, a corporal has given instructions to two junior officers,
constables, to report to the Johnsons Point Police Station on the
woman’s allegations that she had been beaten.

This incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, March 24, at about
5:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, a 57-year-old Hand Street, Villa, man alleges that he was
pelted with stones by three juveniles.

The victim went to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)
with a bleeding wound to his head and reported that it had been
inflicted with a stone by the three minors.

This offence reportedly occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on March 24.

Reportedly, the man had washed several pairs of shoes and placed
them outside to dry.

Three area youth, reportedly between the ages of 14 and 16, were
outside his house and he chased them from in front of his property.

As a result, an argument reportedly ensued between him and the
teenagers, who began to throw stones at him.

Reports are that one of the stones struck him on the left side of his
head, causing a bleeding wound for which he had to consult a
doctor.

A search was reportedly carried out for the alleged offenders
without success.
