Warner elated about near-completion of repairs on Barbuda Admin Bldg and start of rehab of community centre

The Barbuda Council is hoping to be back in its Administration
Building within the next few weeks, as work on the structure is
wrapping up.

The building was significantly damaged during the passage of
Hurricane Irma over six years ago.

Council Chairman Devon Warner says he expects that, by the
end of March, the Council will be re-housed in the building, as the

demolition on the upper floor has been completed and the
electricians are now doing their work.

Warner is full of praise for all the donors who have contributed to
this rebuilding effort.

Not only is the Administration Building being repaired, he reports,
but work has begun on the community centre, which was also
damaged during the Category 5-plus hurricane that flattened the
island.

Once completed, the centre can be used as a hurricane shelter
once again, Warner says.

Meanwhile, the Council chairman says he will be making sure that
things are in place for the targeted completion date to be met.

He says the timeline for the funding of these projects had almost
expired; but, with a few minor adjustments from the donors, the
Council was able to ensure that the funding remained.
