Robbers hit the SDA’s Agricultural Science Department, making off with 40 of its 90 chickens

The Agriculture Science Department at the Seventh Day Adventist
School has been greatly impacted by the theft of 40 chickens from its
farming programme.

A teacher reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)
that unknown persons had stolen the poultry from the coop on the
school’s compound.

This offence reportedly occurred between 6:30 p.m. on Sunday,
November 26, and 8 a.m. on Monday, November 27.

The chicken coop, located on the southeastern side of the
compound, had housed 90 chickens. But when a check was made by
the teacher, it was discovered that only 50 chickens remained.

It appears that the thieves used force to remove a portion of mesh
wire from the western side of the coop to gain access and remove
the chickens.

Praedial larceny has been the bane of livestock and produce farmers
for years. And while the Government has agreed to put surveillance
equipment in the public schools to determine and solve the crimes
of vandalism and theft, such initiatives do not usually include
private schools.
