UPP keeping hawkeyed watch on ALP to prevent by-election being stolen, Pringle says

Ahead of the St. Mary’s South by-election, the United Progressive
Party (UPP) will be hosting a “watch-night party” on Monday night,
October 23, in anticipation of attempts by the Antigua Labour Party
(ALP) to induce the electorate.

Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle says the Labour Party will not be
given any room to steal this by-election since eyes will be on them
like hawks.

Pringle says the time has come for persons to go to the polls and
vote on the merit and work of the sitting administration – and not
because of what they have received as inducements.

The UPP wants a free and fair election – something with which the
ALP does not seem to be familiar, he notes.

But if Prime Minister Gaston Browne and his candidate believe they
will be able to bribe people at the 11th  hour, Pringle says, they have a
rude awakening coming their way.
