Bishop Rolston Jeffrey accuses individuals of destabilizing the local shipping industry just for the sake of making more money

Bishop Rolston Jeffrey, an officer of the Free and Fair Elections
League, is alleging that members of a group – some of whom are
associated with the Government – are using their positions to
destabilize the country’s shipping industry.

Years ago, Jeffrey recalls, there was a local alliance known as the
Antigua Ship Agents Association, which was affiliated with the
Caribbean Shipping Association.

Bishop Jeffrey once served on the executive of the local association,
which was dismantled for various reasons, he says, including
everyone wanting to do their own thing.

He alleges that these persons, who now occupy privileged positions,
are using their status to make money through stevedoring because
their agency fees are not sufficient.

And instead of doing what can be done to further the country’s
development, he says, these individuals are seeking to creatively
enrich themselves by forming overnight agencies.

However, he says, he will not sit back and allow this to continue, and
he has vowed to publicly name them.

Further, Bishop Jeffrey is alleging that the documentation qualifying
some of these persons are forgeries.

The Free and Fair Election League member accuses these
businesspeople of killing the local shipping sector – all in the name
of making more money.
